Now that the economy is back on track, corporate events are on the rise.  Like most businesses, McCoy Mills Ford had gotten away from the extravagant, off-site employee holiday party.  For the past 10 years they have kept it simple, opting for a casual on-site luncheon for their employees.  They wanted to take a small step toward bringing back the employee party, yet they were hesitant to take that bounding leap back to a hotel.  We talked about all sorts of middle ground, like a Sunday brunch, an affordable banquet hall or community center, but yet, still reluctant to take that step.

McCoy Mills ultimately felt more comfortable hosting the event at the business, but chose to have a dinner and invite the spouses.  I knew the employees were hopeful of getting their party back, so I needed to transform the showroom floor and make them feel like they were not at work.

The challenge was to figure out how to transform the stark, florescent space without going to crazy with the cost.  I am a huge fan of ceiling decor which I actually prefer to tabletop decor.  Hanging items eliminates a ton of clutter on the table and gives the room added dimension.  Plus, it is just plain fun!  I found these incredibly budget friendly snowflakes and went from there.

Lights off and you can almost see the room transform.  The comment I kept hearing repeated, "I don't even feel like I am at work!"  Mission Accomplished!!!

DIY Tip:  The votives are from Candles4Less.  I used watered-down tacky glue, brushed it on the outer rim of the votive and dipped it in a mixture of silver and gold glitter.  For the pillar candles, those came from the 99 cent store, and then I used a 7" long piece of 4" wide ribbon to wrap each candle then secured the ribbon with hot glue.

As a member of OC Brides, each vendor is featured at our monthly networking.  Table7 had the opportunity to take the spotlight in April and I was so appreciative at the opportunity until I found out the theme was 70's.  What initially went through my mind was tie dye, lava lamps and disco balls.  Sooooo not my style!  When my mind starts going down a narrow path that is not the place I want to be, I turn to Pinterest, of course, and found an outrageous gold dress that set my mind going.   

I decided to go retro 70's!  When I requested my linens of brown and gold, I don't think the ladies at Glow were too sure of where I was going with it, but they also told me that they knew with my creativity, I would pull something off. 

First I started by making everything gold.  There can never be too much gold!  A can of spray paint can be an event stylists best friend.

Yes, even the flowers were gold!

As my gift to my couple's that allow me to be part of their day, I include a customized sweetheart table, so I like to feature those at my expos.  Here's Table7's idea of 70's!

First I found the lamp, which inspired the rest of the table.  I love the modern yet retro look of the gold hearts and the gold "perfect pears" I found. 

P.S. Astor Classics Event Center is an amazing site for events.  Michael Keener, who is the director of special events said that the space attracts a lot of retro and rockabilly events.
