Backyard Wedding, La Habra Heights, Amber + Jason | Table7 Events

Backyard weddings will always hold a close place in my heart.  My childhood home is where my parents had their wedding reception, as well as both of my aunts and eventually my turn.  I know first hand the amount of work that goes into an "At-Home" wedding, but there is nothing more sentimental than saying your vows in a place that so many other memories have been made.

When Amber and Jason invited me into the home they chose for their nuptials, as soon as I saw the Spanish style home, nearly identical to the one I grew up in, I was in!  My love for getting married at home only grows with each I DO!

Holiday Party: Christmas Decorations, Holiday Decor and Lighting, Open House, Villa Park, CA | Table7 Events

A few years back I met a fantastic family and Table7 threw their oldest daughter a Sweet 16.  In late November, my clients called to explain that they had built a brand new home (some of it still under construction) and had not had time to focus on Christmas decor for their three little kiddos.  On top of the holiday decorations for their home, they wanted to host an open house for their closest friends.  With only a few weeks until Christmas, we went to work.

Holiday Party: Candy Cane Christmas Decorations, Hosted by McCoy Mills Ford, Fullerton, CA | Table7 Events

My love for stripes has never been a secret, so of course I am naturally drawn to the candy cane during the holidays.  I found some fun ways to incorporate the tasty little peppermint cane into this holiday party.

Drink recipe plus a few decor tips and tricks I used below...

DIY:  Crushed Peppermint Votives...
I like to experiment!  Sometimes my ideas work, sometimes I fail, but I think this one was a success.  I had recently done glittered votives, so I decided to try it with crushed candy cane.  I bought some inexpensive clear glass votives, lightly brushed them with slightly watered down tacky glue and rolled them in the candy cane.  Something a little different and unexpected.  You can see the votive in the photo above and I also got a bit adventurous and dipped the corner of the "signature drink" frame at the top.  *A little warm water and the glue and mints came right off, so we can reuse everything.

The Christmas tree at McCoy Mills Ford was all jewel toned when I arrived.  I kept anything silver and red on the tree, added a few large ornaments along with the candy canes to tie in the rest of the decor.

Fact:  Only 10% of your guests will remember the details!  What they will remember is the food, so it is always wise to put a good portion of your budget and energy toward creating the menu.

Peppermint Pina Colada:
3 oz.  Canned Coconut Milk
1 oz.  Pineapple Juice
1 1/2 oz.  White Rum
2  Candy Canes
Fresh Mint for Garnish

Directions:  In a shaker, combine coconut milk, pineapple juice and rum with ice.  Crush one of the candy canes and place in the glass, then pour the colada mixture into the glass.  (This will give the drink the light pink color.)  Garnish with fresh mint and a full candy cane.
*This is best made as a batch drink ahead of time with the crushed peppermint melting ahead of time to create the right color.

Richard Nixon Library, Yorba Linda Wedding, Steffanie + Mike | Table7 Events

I wanted to wait for the perfect time to release this wedding blog and what better month, than my very favorite, October!

If you saw our Cemetery Engagement Session post back in April, you know just how excited we were to plan Steffanie and Mike's "Nightmare Before Christmas" inspired wedding.  Of course, it turned out to be more perfect than we could have imagined.

Not only do we adore this couple, but we were in love with all of their ideas for the theme. The invites, dresses, bouquets and boutonnieres, cake, guestbook, table settings and centerpieces, grand entrance, and everything in between each had a touch of unique style from The Nightmare Before Christmas.  From pumpkins and coffins to Jack Skellington silhouettes, this wedding would be any Tim Burton fan's dream!  White and black with cobalt blue accents was the perfect color scheme for Steffanie and Mike's special day. With a little bit of Christmas, a little bit of Halloween, and a beautiful May afternoon, we had the best of all seasons to make this day truly magical.

Steffanie's beautiful daughter, Alison, played a major role in Steffanie and Mike's day.  From the first look to the ceremony and the couple's grand entrance at the reception.  We were so happy to see Mike get to share this special day with two of the most important ladies in his life and to watch them become one family.  After a perfect evening of saying "I do", taking hundreds of fun photos around the Nixon Library, and dancing the night away, the couple departed, surrounded by their loved ones cheering and waving sparklers, as they headed back to the Disney Grand Hotel in a vintage limousine.

Just like Jack and Sally, it is plain to see, that Steffanie and Mike are simply meant to be!

And they lived happily ever after!
